Welcome to our latest newsletter apologies it’s a little late, but it’s a great way for us to give you information and some forms that we need you to fill in plus some key dates for the rest of the year. In future we also be posting these as a blog on our website, and will be adding a link on our Facebook page.

Club membership
Every club has a membership form that needs to be completed, there is no cost to be a member of the club, but we do need an updated copy each year, as we need it for contact details and medical information. If you haven’t filled it in already, please do as its something we need to hold for all members. The document is at the end of the Newsletter, if you want it via email, contact Chris at chris@apollojudoclub.co.uk
Pay Monthly Option
We have the option to pay monthly by Direct Debit / Standing Order for future ease of payment, for 2024 it works out at the following cost per month:
Session 1 – £6 per month
Session 2 – £12 per month
Session 3 – £16 per month
If you want to pay by Direct Debit / Standing Order ask Chris for the club account details.
Please add your name as the reference so we know who it has come from.
Pay By Card Option
We will also be looking to take card payments soon, if you still want to pay weekly. For card payments the cost will be slightly more due to the fees we need to pay for the card machine.
Session 1 – £1.51 per week
Session 2 – £3.03 per week
Session 3 – £4.04 per week

British Judo Association Membership
Please ensure you have British Judo membership, you need to have this after 2 months as this covers you for insurance, ability to do gradings and competitions. To get a licence you need to go to this link https://www.bjadojo.co.uk/# or there are forms that can be filled in at these links:
Gradings
I will be starting to do the next grades over the next few weeks.
Sho Grading (Under 8s) No Grading Costs + Session Fee
Mon Grading (8-15) £12 + Session Fee
Kyu Grading 16+ £15 + Session Fee

Hygiene – Please make sure judo suits are washed and dry, finger and toenails are short, and hands and feet are clean, we clean the mats periodically and this is due to happen again soon.
Suits
I will be looking to order suits next month, if you would like to order a suit for your child let Chris know, we can bulk buy at wholesale which is a lot cheaper than going to a shop or online.

Christmas Party & Awards – This year we will be having our annual Awards and Christmas Party on the last Judo session Monday 18th December 6pm to between 8-8.30pm, we have a disco booked. We will provide drinks for the kids, and the bar is available for those who want it. This is free to attend.

On the 15th October Scott Morgan, Dan Matthews and Nathaniel Ingledow completed in the Samurai Rod lane Senior low Kyu grade competition, all worked hard with Dan and Nathaniel gaining a bronze medal, and Scott coming 5th

April 2023
On the 15th and 16th April Chris Borman gained his 4th Dan by completing a Technical Dan Grade at Samurai Judo Club, Kidderminster
March 2023
On March 18th Scott Morgan entered the Samurai Men’s Kyu Grades competition in the masters section, Scott had 4 fights and came away with a bronze medal.
