Judo success for Drybrook Trio -  Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Review Article - 18/04/2010

THREE adult beginners from the Apollo Judo Club in Drybrook successfully competed in their first competition at the Kidderminster Senior Championships.

Dean Jenkins, in the under 90kg class, won his first three first to quickly progress to the semi-finals, and worked hard to progress to the final winning emphatically to get a gold medal. 

Tom Cox, in the under 66kg group of five - all far more experienced than Tom - worked hard for his wins and gained a bronze medal.

Last to fight was Steven Taylor in the under 81kg tournament, who also fought his way to a bronze medal.

Apollo Judo Club members train on Monday night from 6.30 - 7.30pm for beginners and 7.30 - 8.30 pm for experienced juniors and seniors - contact Chris Borman on 07787 581249 for further information.

New Referees - 01/06/2008

Congratulations to Chris Borman and Paul Simonds on gaining their Refereeing Awards.  Chris gained the Area Refereeing Qualification and Paul gained the County Refereeing Qualification.

Clubmark - Bronze Award - 27/05/2008

Apollo Judo Club have gained the Bronze Level of the British Judo Association Club Recognition Scheme and the Sport England Clubmark.

County Squad - 27/05/2008

Congratulation to Todd Montague and Daniel Rothwell-Jackson who have made it into the Gloucestershire Team to fight in the Western Area Team Championships in Bristol on 25th November.  Todd is in the 8-12 age group at under 34kgs and Daniel is in the 12-16 age group at under 50kgs.

Apollo Judo Club 25th Anniversary Open Day - 22/09/2007

The Judo Club is having an open day on 22 September for Juniors and Seniors, and anyone who wants to give it a go.  The event is on between 11am and 3pm and all are welcome.  There will also be a BBQ.  Apollo Judo Club would also like to thank Stantons for their kind gesture of a donation of meat for the event.

Ruardean Carnival - 22/09/2007

This year the Apollo Judo Club did a demonstration at the carnival.  Many people watched whilst we demonstrated various techniques and randori.  Photos to follow soon.

Apollo Judo Club 25th Anniversary - 22/05/2007

This year the Apollo Judo Club is 25 years old.  We will be having a party to celebrate and an open day for previous club members and anybody who would like to give Judo a go.  More details when we get them.

Apollo Judo Club - Club Kit - 18/12/2006

Apollo Judo Club announces new club kit which has been designed and created by Raging Bull.  The clothing available includes t-shirts, polo shirts and fleeces.  There are also sports bags available.

Apollo Judo Club - Club Badge - 30/11/2006

Apollo Judo Club has recently announced a new club badge.  The previous badge had been in place for approximately 5 years and Club Chairman, Darrell Peters, has worked with a local graphic artist to provide the new badge.
